County Network Readiness - Making certain each ISAWS county network is ready for the migration to C-IV

The ISAWS county networks broadly fall into two categories:

ISAWS Dedicated - The county has a direct connection from each county site to DTS.  The county gets application related services from DTS (i.e. ISAWS, MEDS, WTW, SFIS, EBT, limited E-Mail and limited Internet). There is no connection from the ISAWS network to any other county or departmental network.  With the ISAWS dedicated network we often see two computers available to the users (typically managers).  One computer is used strictly for ISAWS related activities and the second computer is used to connect to full Internet, full E-Mail as well as other county resources. (See Diagram 1)

Co-Existent - The counties merge two networks together.  The counties merge the DTS network with a departmental or county network.  The networks are able to “Co-Exist” on the same workstation.  One workstation can access all of the ISAWS applications as well as any departmental or county resources.  All of the workstations at all county sites connect to DTS through a central DTS router located somewhere in the county, typically in the county data center.  This is done for security reasons at DTS, as they have a necessity to control or limit the number of foreign connections to DTS.  We call this central router in the counties the DTS POP router. (See Diagram 2)
